This modern house looks amazing, with a slight touch of wood on the exterior and interior design but modern look. The concept of the project starts locating a central backyard as the focal point of all interior spaces. On the first floor we located all public spaces such as vestibule, double height living & dining room, library, kitchen, family room and a wood workshop. On the second floor we have a second more private family room, 3 bedrooms (each one with their own walking closet and bathroom) and laundry. Finally on the 3rd floor we have a service room.

To create textures and cousiness we used hardwood and marble floors as well as marble stone details on several interior walls and chimney. On the facades we used marble stones and wood looking aluminum screens, all integrated by clean geometries and shapes. Via[...]

D’espresso Unique Cafe by Nema Workshop

This interior design has a concept of a library , and this is the interior design for a small cafe in New York City, named D’espresso completed by Nema Workshop. D’espresso Cafe located on Madison Avenue, the espresso bar conceptually and literally turns a normal room sideways, creating a striking identity for the emerging brand. The client approached nemaworkshop with a single espresso bar existing, the ambition to build an espresso empire, and to develop a creative environment that connects to its location on Madison Avenue near Grand Central Station.

This cafe interior inspired by the nearby Bryant Park Library, nemaworkshop designed a store that is straightforward in a simple twisted way – Take a library and turn it sideways. The booklined shelves become the floor and ceilings and wood floor ends up on the walls meanwhile the pendants protrude sideways from the wall. To achieve the books shelves on the floor, the space is lined with sepia-toned full size photograph of books printed on custom tiles. The custom tiles run along the floor, up the 15’ foot wall and across the ceiling. The frosted glass wall behind the service counter illuminates the space and the wall directly opposite is clad in dark brown herringbone. The thrust of this concept finds expression in the lighting and materiality, and ultimately the space gives definition to the emerging brand. The concept itself is bold and receptive to future locations. In addition to unique, this cafe interior design can also provide comfort and a distinct impression to visitors.

Arena Zagreb by UPI-2M

Arena Zagreb is a multi-purpose indoor arena designed by Croatian architectural and engineering firm UPI-2M, with 15.000 seating capacity. Thanks to it’s iconic design and position at one of the main city entrances, it has immediately become a landmark of the city, offering to the citizens a large palette of amusement events. Arena Zagreb is located in south-western part of Zagreb, in Lanište district, Croatia. When experienced in city macro-scale Arena Zagreb is positioned at one of the city main entrances, as an extension of Savska Street – one of the main city traffic line axes as well as an extension of Jarun Lake – one of the main city recreation zones. The chosen site is positioned in a previously undeveloped city district, with few low budget social residential buildings and uncultivated fields – the narrow surrounding and the plot itself were more a dump yard then a field.

This new multi-functional venue consists of 6 floor levels (1 underground and 5 above ground), covering total GBA of 90.340 m2 on a 29.540 m2 footprint. The total cost of 1 square meter was estimated to be 850€ including all side-costs. In the one-level underground garage and on terrain level there are 926 parking places in total, plus 38 bus / obi-van parking places. The height of the underground water prohibited the execution of additional underground garage levels, and on the other hand reduced size of the plot didn’t allow planning parking on the terrain around the venue. However, it is planned to use the 3.300 parking places in the nearby shopping center when finished, which is the most common way worldwide to secure sufficient parking capacity.

Arena Zagreb is designed for hosting numerous sporting, cultural, entertainment and business events such as: handball, indoor football, basketball, volleyball, indoor athletics, hockey, other sporting competitions and also concerts, exhibitions, fairs, congresses and family shows. In order to adequately accommodate such events, many supporting facilities are being provided – catering, sanitary, cloak rooms, offices and similar spaces; also the small training hall with its own facilities and smaller multi-functional spaces on the 2nd floor can be used for mini congresses, workshops and / or lectures.

Arena Zagreb has a roof bearing structure consists of 23 suspended steel girders with approximately 100m span, mutually connected with two stabilization spatial girders and a network of catwalks. From this structure the load is transferred to the pre-stressed concrete curvedly formed columns – lamellas – positioned around the venue’s perimeter. They have been produced on the site with support of the site installed concrete production plant and with usage of filtered gravel material from excavation of the pit, by which unnecessary transportation was avoided. The main façade consists of ventilated semi-translucent polycarbonate envelope that enables reduction in heat losses, secures daylight in circular halls around the grandstands, and provides space for illuminate installation of the main façade. This envelope is positioned between concrete curved lamellas, whose white coloured surface by its reflection characteristics prevents overheating as well. All other used materials were chosen by taking into consideration their quality, wearability endurance – all in terms of maintenance costs, but also environmental friendliness.

The following is an explanation of the UPI-2M : “The shell shape is following the structure logic – it partly covers the inner space with curved columns. Basic shape and structural element of this hall are pre-stressed prefabricated reinforced concrete columns with the height up to 39 m. Eighty-six columns surrounding the hall defines its volume, carrying lexan facade, supporting stands and carries suspended steel roof structure.”

Autostella Car Showroom by Supermachine Studio

Autostella is a small import car showroom which has a modern and unique design, designed by Supermachine Studio, and is located around Eakamai-Ramintra expressway, Bangkok, Thailand. The types of cars Autostella keen to sell are those cute and fun to drive like Fiat 500 or some other small models from another Italian car maker, Alfa romeo. Autostella is not an automobile showroom with super high glass windows as commonly seen in Thailand.

Basically, from the early period of the last century, the automotive industry is always influenced architecture (but not so much vice versa). In modern history, different aspects of “automobile” has been inspiring architecture, whether as a material, shape, speed of the way cars are manufactured. the architect learn so much from the classic examples of architecture like Fiat’s Lingotto factory in Turin, (Mattè Trucco1923) in which the testing track is located on the roof top of the building. Or BMW’s Central Factory in Leipzig (Zaha Hadid, 2005) that incorporates the process of car production and architecture into one. Car is another architecture’s best friend.

Supermachine Studio accessed the project by neglecting the stereotype aspects of automobile that people connect themselves with, which is “speed” and its “Dynamic” look. But it is designed like a small bakery and cafe’ that has small cars park right in the middle of the shops. Imagine a car is one of the furniture in the living room. Their potential clients are those lifestyle concerned people (who sometimes emotional buy rather than logical buy things.) Cars become part of people’s lifestyle, like mobile phone. They are not only transportations like when they were invented anymore.

The flat and long red box is pushed-pulled, deformed and divided in to 4 different (but connected) rooms. Each room has windows in different sizes facing the street. Each of the window is different size according to the size of the room. The room can be decorated differently in the future to suit the mood of the new models of the cars coming-in in the future. It is like a house for cars rather than a car showroom. “Why car showroom has to be singlewhite room with non-differentiation all the time? It’s so boring”.
